A big source of black carbon is the burning of crops and forests as this burning creates lots of fine carbon that floats up into the atmosphere and absorb heat. An example of this is the country of brazil. This country slashes and burns millions of hectares of irreplaceable rainforests that are essential to our planet. The Atlantic Forest, consisting of over 330 million acres of lush rainforest was almost entirely wiped out when settlers arrived in brazil. The burning of this forest produced approximately 350 million tonnes of black carbon. Large clouds filled with black carbon have covered Asia and parts of Europe. Black carbon does not stay in the air for long, as it falls down to earth with precipitation, sometimes on our icecaps.
