Although we are putting less methane into the air than carbon dioxide, methane is 21% more powerful at trapping heat than CO2, and this number is steadily increasing as our atmosphere changes. This makes methane a significant source of global warming. Most methane emissions come from agricultural livestock. These animals produce methane when they digest plants. Every day, cows and other livestock create over 375 billion litres of methane each day.
